01 NIGHT IN AGUAS
CALIENTES
01 NIGHT IN SACRED VALLEY
DAY 01: ARRIVAL TO CUSCO / CITY TOUR AND RUINS
Reception and transfer to the hotel, where you will
receive general information about the city and the tours
and drink the delicious “Mate de Coca”.
Approximately at 2pm, you will start the guided
sightseeing tour in Cusco visiting the Main Square, the
Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun or Korikancha. Then,
out of the City you will visit the Inca sites of Kenko,
Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive Fortress of
Sacsayhuaman, strategically built on a hill overlooking
Cusco, famous for its enormous carved stones, some of
them standing over 9 m /30 ft high and weighing over 350
tons. Return to your hotel. (No meals)
DAY 02: CUSCO / SACRED VALLEY
After breakfast, we will take the Full-day excursion to
the "Sacred Valley of the Incas", along the Vilcanota
River. We will have the opportunity to share closely the
peasants' customs and bargain with vendors at the
typical indian market of Pisac. The lunch time will be
in a local countryside restaurant. In the afternoon,
passing through the Towns of Calca and Urubamba, we will
visit the Inca Fortress and Citadel of Ollantaytambo,
built to guard the entrance to this part of the Valley
and protect it from possible invasion from the tribes in
the Lower jungle. You will be able to walk through the
quaint streets of the nearby Town, and get a good idea
of what this strategic military, religious, and
agricultural centre was like during the era of the Inca
Empire. This day you will spend the night in the Sacred
Valley. (B, L)
Day 03: SACRED VALLEY / MACHU PICCHU
After breakfast you will be transferred to the
Ollantaytambo Station for a 1 ˝ hour train journey to
the famous Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu, also known as
"The Lost City of the Incas", discovered for science in
1911 by the American explorer Hiram Bingham. We will
visit the ruins for around 3 hours, during which time
our guide is going to show you the Intihuatana, (or
"Hitching Post of the Sun), the Temple of the Sun, the
Royal Tomb, the Priests' House, the Inca Baths and the
Temple of the Three Windows, which allow us to glimpse
back into the past. Time for lunch (optional). This day
you will spend the night in Aguas Calientes town. (B)
DAY 04: MACHUPICCHU / CUSCO
Morning at leisure to explore by your own (entrance fee
and transportation not included). In the afternoon you
will take the train to Cuzco. Upon arrival in Cuzco,
transfer to the hotel and overnight (B)
DAY 05: TRANSFER OUT
Breakfast . On a coordinated hour you will be
transferred to the airport or terminal. Checking
passengers. (B)
