Day 1 AREQUIPA - BASE
CAMP
At 07:00 am you will be picked up from your hotel
in Arequipa and transported in a private car to start
our excursion to Chachani. Our route is by Cabrerias,
Cañahuas, the National Reserve of Aguada Blanca, and if
possible we will watch the wild vicuñas on the way
between El Misti and Chachani Mountains.
At 09:00 am we will arrive to the back face (north face)
(4,200 masl - 12,000 ft.). At 10:00 aprox. we will start
the trek for east side until 5,200 masl (17,300 ft.)
where there is a sandy slope, with reddish colorations,
ash & volcanic tufo. In a little time we will be behind
of the Chachani volcano (north side) that has a
fantastic view toward the pampas of the National
Reservation of Aguada Blanca and Cañaguas. At 12:00 m.
lunch and brief rest, to return at 16:00 to our camp
base.
We will have dinner and spend the night at 5,200 masl. (L,D)

Day 2 SUMMIT AND RETURN TO AREQUIPA
Very early in the morning at 03:00 pm we will have
breakfast and at 04:00 we will restart the ascension.
This ascension is harder and takes 6 hours approx. with
slight equipment. We will attack the pick Chachani for
the col and base of the Coronado pick, then we pass
toward the front side having a beautiful view of
Arequipa, then through the pick Angel and Fatima hill.
Take a rest at 5,800 masl, then attack to the summit.
At 11:00 approx. we will raise the Chachani (6,075 masl).
(summit) having lunch at 12:30 and returning to the camp
base. We will get there at 15:30, the camp, having a
snack, and then returning in our car to Arequipa,
arriving around 17:30 pm. Transfer to your hotel (B,L)
